Multilingual Academy Modules:

 

Module 1: Your Foundation

In this Module, we’ll make sure you have a firm foundation as a learning-focused leader to strengthen teaching and learning for Multilingual learners with a focus on integrated and targeted English language instruction in-and-across content areas and classrooms.

  • Knowledge of research-and-evidence based approach to MLLs/ELLs high-quality integrated instruction

Module 2: Follow a Unit of Study

You will apply an inquiry-based protocol to examine the interrelated stages of the teaching and learning process with a focus on integrated instruction models with targeted support for MLLs 

  • Applying researched-based practices and understanding key areas to support for results 

Module 3: Measuring Leadership Practices

Upon completion of a multi-source survey that targets MLL programs and leadership to support systems, you will review automated targeted data and feedback designed to support instruction for MLLs/ELLs and school improvement. 

  • You will develop early actionable steps with customized strategies to target MLLs/ELLs.

Module 4: Focusing on Five

This is a powerful module. You’ll will learn about a student shadowing protocol to help you reflect on the experiences of your MLL/ELL students. 

  • Observe from the Multilingual learners perspective
  • Make connections to the research and systemic shifts that lead to results  

Module 5: Developing Your Transformational Message

Once you have decided on high leverage priorities, clarifying your message is critical. Here you will create a messaging plan that works, and enjoy the benefits of leading a winning school for years to come.

  • Development of a Strategic Integrated Language Approach Plan and corresponding message for stakeholder input that includes a focus on high-quality MLL/ELL instruction 

As you walk through these modules you will develop the plan and skills you need to transform your school.

Fostering Quality Schools Academy

The academy is a virtual 8-week training that walks you through a step by step process for success.  The academy enables school leaders to develop a deeper understanding and integrated approaches to improving student outcomes. CALL Primary System

Developed and validated at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the Comprehensive Assessment of Leadership for Learning (CALL) measures key instructional leadership practices at the school and district level. School and District leaders across the country use CALL to support school improvement planning, inform professional development plans, and to conduct comprehensive needs assessments.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WIDA School Improvement System

Developed in collaboration with WIDA, this school-wide leadership and assessment system measures the key practices that support teaching of English Learners (EL). The resulting data informs the professional development needs in a school to support teachers in their effort to support all students in the classroom.
